Echoing a sentiment I shared on IG that seemed to resonate:
Throwing it out there
This might be the best summer ever
At least in my adulthood
I’ve been building this life for a long time and now I’m just living it
Feels good
HAGS

My fav [Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)] things from the internet rn:
“Electric Touch” ft. Fall Out Boy is EASILY my favorite song from the vault. To make this a truly full circle moment, enjoy Taylor singing “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” in FOB’s hometown stop (Chicago) on the Speak Now World Tour.
I need to get back on TikTok to ask someone to remake “Mean Planes & Taylor Gangs”, the inescapable remix that was played at every single college party I went to in 2010-2011, with “Mean (Taylor’s Version)”. I mean come on, with the sped up vocals??? It’s so relevant for 2023 it hurts.
Did I wear a monochrome lavender outfit and sparkly purple eyeshadow and listen to Speak Now TV on repeat for 48 hours and then make memes about it? YES!!! It was exhilarating! I highly suggest singing and dancing around your apartment even when the opportunity doesn’t naturally present itself. When the original album came out in 2010, I thought Taylor was super cringe (which I don’t retract lol), but I was also a huge J*hn M*yer stan, so we all have had time and space to grow. Now I’ve come to respect a pop masterpiece when I hear one.
⏮ Let’s Go Back….Back to the Beginning
A time capsule of this week in pop culture history:
②⓪⓪① Mariah Carey released “Loverboy”, the best-selling song of the year. In case you’re not up on the “Loverboy” drama, Mimi breaks it down in her memoir. Black Femininity TV is an incredible YouTube channel that dives deep on Mariah’s Glitter era and one of my fav pop culture rabbit holes – JLo’s ghost singing/stolen vocals saga.
②⓪⓪③ Chingy’s album Jackpot, featuring the smash hit single “Right Thurr”, was released. Remember when Chingy followed me on IG for a short time in 2019??
②⓪⓪④ A Cinderella Story soundtrack was released. Shoutout to Misss 2005 aka. Nicole aka. Gen Z Me; we talk about this soundtrack and its impact on our lives in depth in the Vintage Lace Camis & Playboy Bunny Necklaces Nicstalgia ep!!!
②⓪⓪⑤ “Helena” by My Chemical Romance hits number one on MTV’s TRL for the first time. Shoutout to Jess Conrad; we talk about this song/music video’s impact on our lives in depth in the My Chemical Romance: The Musical Nicstalgia ep!!!
